Silverstar of Selune – Oracle Archetype

Silverstars are the specialty priests of Selune — devoted advocates of freedom and tolerance, wanderers on the path of truth, and absolute foes of Shar. They seek to build harmony among lycanthropes and non-shapechangers, and they protect the weak and the oppressed everywhere. They cannot abide slavery, and the servants of the black blood (evil lycanthropes) are anathema to them. They rarely settle in one place for long, instead moving along when seized by wanderlust or enticed by a new cause or mission. Sometimes they receive visions and are seen as somewhat “touched” with prophecy by their closeness to the Moonmaiden. They deal with lunar energies and phenomena and are, to a limited degree, able to wield the power of the moon, bringing its fierce, pure white light to Toril to advance the goddess’s wishes.

Silverstars are often found in large coastal cities dependent on the sea for trade and sustenance. Others prefer the outlying reaches of civilized realms, where lycanthropes are most common. Wherever they are found, silverstars actively oppose the activities and misdeeds of Shar’s followers, as well as those of Malar, whether singly or in groups.

Patron Deity and Alignment: The Silverstar must have Selune as her chosen patron, must choose the Lunar mystery, and must remain Good in alignment. If she ever leaves the service of Selune or strays from this alignment requirement, she loses the abilities of this archetype. She may seek atonement in order to regain these features.

Class Skills: The Silverstar gains Survival (Wis) as a class skill. This modifies the oracle’s class skills.

Mystery: The Silverstar must choose the Lunar mystery.

Revelations: In addition to the revelations of the Lunar mystery, the Silverstar also has access to the following revelations from the Heavens mystery: Guiding Star and Spray of Shooting Stars.

The following are exclusive revelations that can also be chosen by a Silverstar:

Blessed Lycanthropy (Su): Silverstars who contract (or have already contracted) any form of lycanthropy are treated as natural lycanthropes, rather than inflicted lycanthropes. You do not change alignment due to contracting lycanthropy regardless of the alignment type of the lycanthrope, and are aware of your actions while in animal or hybrid form. Further, your scent ability is retained in human form. If you are already an afflicted lycanthrope before selecting this revelation, must undergo, or have undergone, an atonement given from a divine follower of Selune before gaining its benefits.

Lunar Channelling (Su): With this revelation you can, as a standard action, emit a beam of consecrated moonlight to cause all evil aligned lycanthropes within 30 feet of you to flee, as if panicked. They receive a Will save to negate the effect. The DC for this Will save is equal to 10 + 1/2 your Silverstar level + your Charisma modifier. Lycanthropes that fail their save flee for 1 minute, but may make a new saving throw each round to end the effect.

Moon’s Hand (Su): You can enhance any mace you wield as a standard action to give it the shocking weapon property for one minute. If leaves your hand it reverts to its original abilities. If the weapon has additional abilities, these abilities still apply. At 5th level, the mace gains a +1 enhancement bonus atop of any attunement bonus you already apply to the weapon; this bonus increases by +1 for every four levels after 5th, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. At 11th level, the mace becomes a shocking burst weapon, and it is treated as being a silver weapon for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction, regardless of its actual material.

Moonshield (Su): You have learned how to better resist the magic of the Shadow Weave by the blessings of you Goddess. You add your Charisma modifier — to a maximum of your silverstar level, on saves against enchantment, illusion, and necromancy spells and effects, and spells and effects with the darkness descriptor. This bonus applies whether the source is from the Weave or the Shadow Weave.
