Appearance: This Light brown haired woman stands quietly confident; whether in a dark blue jacket and white boots covering her light; form fitting white shirt shaping around her torso, or in a surcoated suit of Adamantine plate. She has a face that is quite memorable, somehow appearing both approachable; and fantastically heroic in its appearance. When she is in something more form fitting, her well toned and carefully sculpted body is one of both a professional warrior and a climber, both strength and agility readily apparent in her sleekly muscular form.

Personality

Despite the serious exterior she can put off, she is actually quite carefree and grows close to others easily. While she was trained to be a mercenary; she is more than happy to defer payments or take other forms of payment rather than cold hard coin; this is especially true if she finds the person that she is negotiating with to be attractive.  Kathea does have doubts as to whether she can seriously control her sorcery; and tries to hide this fear from others- although she has admitted it to some.

Background

Kathea grew up in a small household farmstead just outside of a farming village near Neverwinter; and she grew good at two things; climbing the wet cliffs around her home, and getting her chores done so she could continue climbing. This was her life until she was nine, when her parents allowed her to go climbing while they went to a village harvest meeting. Bandits raided the town and locked everyone in the village hall; lighting it aflame.

Kathea saw the smoke a few minutes later and rushed home; only to see bandits already ransacking the place she once called home. She ran; until she bumped into a massive giant of a man, a half-ogre. She opened her mouth to scream, but a soft; feminine hand silenced her. The half- ogre explained that he was the leader of a small band of mercenaries, tasked with the elimination of the bandits that caused her to lose her family. He then explained that he needed her help to stop them, and after explaining chokepoints and vantage points, Kathea led them to every location she could think of.

Eventually the bandits were dealt with; and the mercenaries took her in for training. She unlocked her sorcery a few years later; when the same woman that silenced her and saved her life accidentally pushed her too hard in her training, causing Kathea to lash out with an unshaped bolt of force, killing her by accident. Her training efforts were doubled after this, pushing her well past what she thought were her limits. The band kept her on for a short time after they deemed her training to be finished, but they picked a fight with something that was bigger than them. They were hired to rescue one noble’s son,  and accidentally got involved in a centuries long feud when they killed the kidnapper — another noble’s son. The furious noble hired a company that had been a rival to her band ever since she manifested her sorcery, and attempted to “recruit” her several times since then. She was assigned to clean the barracks at that point however, and one of the many contacts she had made serving as a face for the band of outcasts and exiles warned her of the wipe. She ran once more, making her way away from the sword coast, and shortly after her twenty-third birthday, to Arabel.

Goals and Plot Hooks

  • Establishment of a positive reputation with Cormyr.
  • Possibly one day forming a band of like minded individuals, opposed to slavery and corruption.
  • To learn where her magical abilities come from; and hopefully control it more completely.
  • Her enemies are The Briarwood Hounds; and the noble family that hired them. She seeks to eliminate them as a threat to her or others.
  • She also detests Bugbears after the one that was the band’s scout told her stories of what they do to people.
  • Anything that might help her stop others from suffering as orphans.
