Personality Profile: Shy, quiet often sounding uncertain or hesitant in speech. A generally shy, reserved air, unless performing or with friends. Strangely bold as brass when performing (though at times refuses to sing too bawdy a song). Apparently hopeless in combat she does has a strange predilection and talent for daggers and thrown knives. She’s never knowingly frowning, or without a shy smile on her lips.

Background

Before her birth, Ashera’s father was a bard in Selgaunt, and a follower of the Joydancer, Lliira, forced to flee during the aftermath of troubles within the city after the clashes between those who would form the order militant of the Lliiran faith. Come the day that the High Priestess, who was Lliira’s lover during her time as a mortal, was murdered by the faithful of the Lady of Pain, Ash’s father was among those first to organise to exact retribution against Loviatar’s church. The deadly assault left many of the Church of Pain’s faithful dead, and those responsible, who would call themselves the Scarlet Mummers, found themselves needing to be migrant in order to avoid the consequence of their actions. Taking with a band of troubadours, the small band of scattering Mummers, roamed the highways and byways of the Dalelands. His journey where he found his future mate in an elf of Highmoon who joined the troupe. A fair, pale damsel who charmed the refugee minstrel with her own talent as a bard.

It was no surprise, perhaps, that Ashera herself was gifted with the musical talent of both parents, and was a half-elven reflection of her mother’s elven comeliness and her father’s own dashing features The couple conspired to keep their daughter oblivious of her Father’s calling, for her own safety as she grew. Though they did teach her their skills with the dance, as well as the blade. To her, they were a band of mercenary gypsies, when truly, they sought out any who brought torment upon others to bring a swift, silent end to them, and to free those who were captive and tortured. To her, they were a band of mercenary gypsies and rovers with a slightly uncanny knack of stumbling on cults of Lovitar or other evil-doers. Ashera grew into a young woman, and a skilled bard in her own right. Her parents encouraged her to step out on her own, and leave their caravan to find her own fortune and after discussion encouraged her to find her fortune in the City of Adventures as they passed through Cormyr.

So far, life in Cormyr hasn’t been too bad for the young songstress. Good companions, pleasant folk, and the odd dash of mind numbing terror when roaming ruins or other dark, dingy places chasing whatever history it holds. In other words, perfect for a bard. Not to say she hasn’t acquired some dubious habits from those she hangs around with, her talent for simple misdirection and slight of hand is definately improved, handy in whatever line of work one may decide to follow. Her parents have not forgotten the young adventurer, however. As unknown to her, they have kept close eye upon their daughter through their own network of little birds. Come a day they feel she is ready, someone in their troupe will know where to find her, and present her with a purpose to carry on that was aided in founding by her father years before, one never knows when the Mummers will come calling.

Goals

  • First and foremost; Become a Scarlet Mummmer. This would likely come at the behest of someone tied to her parents. Tied to this goal, and true to her faith, Ashera hates tortune and slavery, and those who cause pain to others. She would go to any measure to free someone who was captive and bring an end to those who held others in captivity (though, she’d never admit to the militant tendancy…who’d believe her anyway?).
  • Has a love of knowledge, the more esoteric the better – though she has an irrational fear of planar travel due to tales spun around too many a campfire growing up
  • Track down new/forgotten songs.
  • Learn as many languages as possible (it’s so much easier to get away with bald faced lies if you can speak a language others can’t)
  • Convince people bards don’t use the arcane, it’s merely them being so great that reality reshapes itself at the Bard’s behest

Enemies

Presently none (she’s far too sweet, and innocent….)

Possible plot hooks/story ideas

  • Eventually to be appraoched by someone connected to her parents’ troupe, to test her and induct her into a the Scarlet Mummers.
  • Discovery by some opposiing force, who would seek to cause her harm, or to those around her.
  • Any chance to thwart a tyrannical, or Loviatarn plot.
  • Rumours of legendary bards/troubadours visiting would possibly induce a desire to beg/borrow/steal whatever she can from them (always remembering good poets borrow, great poets steal)
  • A chance to uncover lost songs or music to return it to the Realms – afterall a Lliiran is meant to spread joy, what better way than music? especially forgotten music.
  • The Time of Troubles is 21 years ago IG time (or about a year before Ash was born) – her father, being a loyal Lliiran present in Selgaunt at the Time of Troubles would have experienced the murder of the High Revelmistress, and subsequent founding of the Scarlet Mummers first hand.
Her Father was, unknown to Ash, actually one of the founding members that was present at the Mummer’s first action (the reprisal by a troupe of singing, dancing actors and performed right outside the gates of the Loviatan temple, who then attacked clergy of Loviatar who emerged with whips in hand to “see them off.”) and subsequently scattered to spread the newly formed order militant of Lliira across the Realms
