Background

Alybryn Arabduis was born about 150 years ago, to House Arabduis in Menzoberranzan.  Her birth was seen as a great blessing, for that night they destroyed a house above them, moving up the power and social structure of the city, though still very far off from ever reaching the ruling council.  Her mother had a mutually beneficial relationship with a deep dragon named Thulmaxor, which she used to create half dragon drow males as soldiers for her house.  Alybryn, being a female however, would be expected to take a different path, and join the ranks of clergy of Lloth, and so her draconic features were hidden, her mother using foul magic to transform her into a regular drow.  From a very early age, Alybryn showed great affinity for the drow lifestyle, controlling and dominating the slaves and males of the house.  She possessed the beauty of any matron and the intellect to take advantage of such a situation, people expected her to go far in Arach-Tinilith.  Her studies went well for a few decades, but after her birth her mother produced no more females, and for reasons unknown to Alybryn, her powers stopped.  She began to awaken different magical power, from the arcane blood in her veins, and she used that to fake her way for a bit.  This would not last, and eventually her house was consumed by a rival.  On that fateful day, Alybryn, rather than trying to help her mother and family, looted the family home for what valuables she could, and during the chaos of the battle, staged one of the dead drow from the battle to appear to be her, and left the city for the lair of her father.

When she arrived in his cave, he was less than thrilled to hear of the destruction of House Arabduis, and he did his best to undo the magic that her mother had used to transform her.  It was from him she learned the glory of Tiamat, and took up worship of the goddess.  Because of the strength and complexities of the magic that had been used to hide her true nature, it was unclear if she would ever revert to being a proper half dragon.  After a few years with her father, she was sent to the surface world, to further the cause of her new matron.

On the surace, she was taken in by a group of Eilistraeen followers, and she lived with them for a time, learning the faith and how to behave on the surface world.  Eventually, she poisoned the water supply, and those who did not die of poison, she killed, sacrificing them to The Dragon Queen, and taking their possessions and gold for her own.  She moved to Arabel, intent to continue her wicked ways.  She began life as an adventurer, using her innate bardic talents to hide her true nature, and carrying holy texts of Eilistraee, and took to the use of a bastard sword, planning to lie and tell folks of her devotion to The Dark Maiden if her true nature was discovered.  She fell in with a local cult devoted to Tiamat for a while, but that dried up, and she left the city to explore the Sword Coast around when The Whispers began.

For the next few years, she worked as a caravan guard, traveling up and down the sword coast, sampling the different cities and taking what pleasures she could, but she found her connection to Tiamat begining to wane, and she became increasingly bored and unsatisfied with life.  She had little in the way of friends or lovers, and no cult or real purpose in existing.  Her solace was in music, dance, and art, but none would see these things because she could not share them.

She eventually returned to Arabel in 1381 DR, resuming the life an adventurer.  She spent her days adventuring and her nights with drink and whores in brothels, but as her draconic powers were growing, she found the alcohol did less and less for her.  One day, in the square outside the inn, she was offered a strawberry by a proud dragonblooded female by the name of Endellion, who called herself Illy.  No one had shown her kindness in many years, and being treated like a normal person, that acceptance, and she eventually revealed her true nature to Illy, and explained who she was and where she had come from and her desire to abandon that life and change for the better.  Illy would help her over several months, helping her in her studies of the different faiths, and easing her transition as her she completed her transformation back into a half dragon.  It was Illy who first put her in contact with the faithful of Eilistraee, and she spent much time then studying and devouting herself truly to The Dark Maiden.  Aly also began going out in public in the form of a regular elf, and she began to play music and dance for people, and make art and become a more social creature.  She did her best to keep her past hidden from those she knew would not accept or believe her transformation, and eventually she joined the hidden enclave to The Dark Maiden.

She continued adventuring, though now with others, taking on greater challenges, and always on the look out for other drow she could bring to The Dark Maiden, believing her only chance at saving her own soul was by saving the souls of others.  She would run across a strange elf, who spoke of having amnesia, and was very pretty, by the name of Shalia.  Alybryn was a gifted liar herself, and very good at spotting a con, and she sought out Shalia, and eventually she revealed herself to the elf.  Shalia revealed herself to be of drow blood and infernal blood, and quite evil.  Alybryn helped her to change her ways and convert her to Eilistraee.  Shalia at this time had been in a relationship with a powerful elven Archmage, well respected in the community, who kept her in finery and nice things.  This did not stop either of them from begining their own relationship, and Alybryn cared for Shalia greatly, eventually convincing her to break it off with the Archmage, who she did not feel feelings for.  The Archmage did not take it well, and a few days later, Shalia was murdered, at the local shrine of The Dark Maiden.  There was no evidence left of it to be found, and some believed that she had just run away, but Alybryn knew it had been the Archmage taking his revenge.  This became evident when the Archmage revealed their secret to the Enclave, and Alybyrn was forced to leave, having to endure a trial, and resigning so as to not force her mentor to kick her out or lose face.

This was the lowest point in her life.  She had lost almost everything.  Her new friends abandoned her, her love was gone, and she felt like an outsider again, not even allowed to be with her own people.  She knew in her heart she was doing the right thing, but that didn’t make her life any less lonely, and one night, she drank as much poison as she could, and settled down at a local teahouse, hoping to die there amongst pleasant music and a cheerful backdrop, sure that when she passed, she would see her friend again.  It was there that she met Serra.  The two bonded and spent some time together, but Alybryn still did not feel like she was in the right place, so she left and went to an enclave under the city of Waterdeep.  She spent some time there, amongst others of her faith, and rededicated herself to the dark maiden.  She trained with the priestesses there, taking the vows to become a priestess herself and eventually she returned to Highmoon.

She was welcomed back to the Enclave, now under new management, with open arms, and with the understanding to inform a superior next time she is working on a potential convert.  She would spend her days helping to train the drow of the Enclave, making art, and persuing her love of cooking.  She reunited with Serra Everjoy, and the two quickly fell in love.  She joined the house, loving all the play she could get as a Mistress there while still exploring her softer, submissive side with Serra and the other Mistresses of the house.  She would eventually marry Serra in a small ceremony, and they would have two children, a drow tiefling girl named Shalia and an elven dragonblooded girl named Zalria.
