Morninglord of Lathander Cleric Archetype

The Church of Lathander is well known and highly respected across Faerûn. A large part of that respect comes from Lathander’s elite priests, who are known as the Morninglords. Morninglords are, in many ways, the epitome of the classical cleric archetype – they are kindly healers and advisors, stalwart protectors, and implacable foes of the undead. Because morninglords believe it is their duty to bring Lathander’s light to all the dark places of the world, they often travel the breadth of Faerûn, preaching the glory of their god to any who will listen and smiting the Dawn’s foes wherever they appear.

Patron Deity and Alignment: The Morninglord must have Lathander as his chosen patron, and must remain within one step of Lathander’s alignment (NG). If he ever leaves the service of Lathander or strays from this alignment requirement, he loses the abilities of this archetype. He may seek atonement in order to regain these features.

Domain Focus: The Morninglord can only select one domain and that domain must be the Sun domain. He does not gain any domain spell slots. However, he may spontaneously convert one of his prepared spells to a domain spell in the same manner as curing spells. Like a sorcerer, he can apply metamagic he knows to this casting with a commensurate increase in spell level.

Bane of the Restless (Sp): At first level, the Morninglord gains Turn Undead as a bonus feat.

Lathander’s Light (Su): Whenever a Morninglord casts a spell with the light descriptor, the area’s radius may be increased by up to 5ft per two cleric levels the Morninglord possesses.

Creative Fire: Morninglords are particularly expressive and creative people. The morninglord adds half his cleric level to any Artistry, Craft or Perform checks.

Channel Renewal (Su): At 4th level, when the Morninglord channels positive energy to heal the living, he also removes fatigue and exhaustion from those in the area of his channel. For every 6 rolled on his channeling dice, he also restores 1 point of ability damage, ability drain, or 1 temporary negative level that each of those healed may be suffering from.

Searing Light (Sp): At 6th level, the Morninglord can spend two uses of his channel energy ability to cast searing light, as the spell, as a spell-like ability.

Bonus Feat: At 8th, 14th, and 18th level, you gain a bonus feat selected from the following list; Blazing Channel, Channel Ray, Channel Revival, Channel Smite, Channel Surge, Extra Channel, Improved Channel, Iron Will, Quick Channel, and Selective Channel.

Blessing of Dawn (Su): At 10th level, when the Morninglord activates his channel energy ability to heal, all creatures affected by this ability gain the benefit of a bless spell for 1 round per cleric level.

Rejuvenation of the Morn (Su): At 12th level at the dawn of each day, the Morninglord can awaken truly rejuvenated. He heals double the normal hit points and ability damage, receives a new saving throw against disease, and recovers one point of ability drain on one ability score. If the Morninglord’s rest is interrupted for any reason during his or her eight hours of rest, he does not gain these additional benefits.

Aura of Radiance (Su): At 16th level, the Morninglord radiates a persistent aura of daylight, as the spell, though it can be suppressed or resumed as a standard action, and it extends an additional 10 feet for every cleric level after 16th. In addition, his channel energy power is extended to half of the radius of the daylight effect (up to 50′ at level 20). Further, by expending two uses of channel energy, he can create a hallow effect, centered on him, out to his channeling radius, for 10 minutes per cleric level.

Brilliance of the Sun (Su): At 20th level, the Morninglord gains a fire resistance of 30/-. He gains a +5 sacred bonus to AC against undead, and automatically confirms any critical hit to an undead creature. Up to a number of times per day equal to his Charisma bonus, when the Morninglord casts any domain spell that deals damage, it can be treated as both Selective and Maximized, with no change in effective spell level or casting time.
