Savras, the All-Seeing

Source: Obedience boons adapted from Faiths of the Forgotten Realms by Pyromaniac Press

Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domains: Fate (Luck), Knowledge, Law, Magic [Spell], Prophecy.
Mysteries: Arcane, Lore.
Favored Weapon: Dagger

Savras represents the ideal of truth revealed, free of obfuscation and bias. Knowledge, divination, and fortune telling are the clergy’s stock in trade, revealing what is, and what isn’t wished for. He is believed to know all that has happened and all that will occur. Some claim that he guides the forces of fate, while others believe he is cursed to know all of history and the future, but is unable to affect its flow. The All-Seeing One is a cautious, logical power given to long intervals of meditative silence. He despises anyone or any power who would obscure the truth, and thus he opposes Cyric and Mask (and opposed Leira) at every opportunity.

Dogma: The blindness of mortals is the origin of all folly. Search for the truth in all things great and small and conceal nothing. Speak only the truth, for lies and misdirection, even for benign motives, are the root of all sorrow. Be not paralyzed by indecision, but take no action without analyzing the implications. Hasty actions and decisions are rarely more beneficial than well thought out strategies that are revised as necessary. Mortals who employ only their two own eyes are essentially blind. Savras provides the third blessed eye, allowing both foresight and hindsight, so that mortals can access to omniscience of the gods. It is not wrong to use the knowledge that Savras gives to help yourself, but be mindful of furthering the goals of others; seek for the hidden motive before you act, and damage not the whole of the realm in which you live out your mortal life.

Obedience: Spend an hour of your day on the corner of any populated area center as a soothsayer. You may divulge some prophecy or discovery of your own, or you may recite recent confirmations of Savras’ chosen, Alaundo, that others may see the truth in his words, and related it all to the favor of the All-Seeing. If you have some office or social station that allows you to function as a wise counselor or to share these same revelations, then serving loyally in your station counts as fulfilling your obedience. Gain a +2 sacred (or profane depending on your alignment) bonus on Sense Motive checks, and to the DCs of any divination spells you cast.

Boons
1: Blessed Seer (Sp) true strike 3/day, augury 2/day, or claiaudience/clairvoyance 1/day.
2: Aura of Revelation (Su) You and all allies within 10 feet of you gain an insight bonus of +4 to saving throws, Perception checks, and Sense Motive checks to pierce illusions, deceptions, and falsehoods. When you reach 18 Hit Dice, the aura increases to 30 feet.
3: Destiny Unobstructed (Sp) You have become one with the power of divination granted by Savras. As a standard action, for a number of minutes per day equal to your Hit Dice, you gain the benefits of true seeing and foresight. These minutes do not have to be spent consecutively but they do have to be spent in 1-minute increments.

For Followes of Savras

Archetypes and Alternate Class Features: Fortune-Teller (Bard), Seer (Oracle)

Specialty Priest: Sybylite (Cleric)

  • Prescient Avoidance: A Sybylite adds his Wisdom bonus as an insight bonus to his AC and to his Reflex saves, so long as he does not wear armor or carry a shield. This bonus is lost if the sybylite is incapacitated or helpless. This replaces the standard Cleric’s armor and shield proficiencies.
  • A Sybylite does not choose any domains, nor does he gain domain spell slots. The abilities below replace the Cleric’s domains.
  • Expanded Spell List: A Sybylite adds all Wizard spells of the Divination school that aren’t already on his spell list to his spell list, which are considered cleric spells for spell-completion and spell-trigger items. He can prepare these additional spells freely in any of his cleric spell slots.
  • Divination Specialization: Rather than domain spell slots, the Sybilite gains an additional spell slot of each spell level he can cast, which must be used to prepare a spell of the divination school. He also gains the Divination arcane school, or he can choose the Prophecy, Foresight, or Scrying focused school. Further, unlike most clerics, the Sybylite must choose two schools of magic as opposition schools — he is subject to the limitations and restrictions of using spells of these opposition schools as if he were a specialist wizard.
  • Sixth Sense (Ex): At 3rd level, the Sybylite gains the danger sense ability of a rogue equal to his cleric level.

Unique Spell Rules

Clergy and Temples

The church of Savras is small but organized. Many clerics are involved with foretelling the future or studying the past and dealing with the consequences of what they learn. Of necessity, Savras’s clergy engage in extended strategy sessions to analyze the implications of future events and plan accordingly. Some followers of the All-Seeing wander Faerun uttering prophecies, while others seek out remote locations to reside and become oracles. A few are employed as truth speakers and serve the legal system of various cities and kingdoms as expert witnesses, magistrates, or judges.

Savras is little known in the Realms outside of the coterie of diviners and fortunetellers. Those outside the ranks of his faithful who know of the All-Seeing One typically hold him in poor regard. Savras’s penchant for speaking the truth, even when it is unlooked for, have earned him more foes than allies. With the resurgence of Savras’s faith in the aftermath of the Time of Troubles, priests of the All-Seeing One have begun a campaign to improve their deity’s standing in the Realms. Savras’s only known active shrine in the Northern part of the Realms is located in Candlekeep, the former home of Savras’s most famous servant, Alaundo the Prophet.
