Personality: Emellin tries to be likable… but honestly doesn’t have much presence despite her brilliant mind, she tends to stick to the shadows… coming out only as she feels needed.

Background: Emellin’s parents were Cormyrian, a part of the Purple Dragons until they retired. A friend of theirs convinced them to travel with him to a small city in The Border Kingdoms; the friend picked a fight with a mercenary who killed him. Now alone; the two soon to be parents settled in the city. Emellin’s mother soon gave birth; but did not survive long after giving Emellin life, leaving her father to raise the girl all on his own. He ended up often performing tasks as a mercenary for hire himself. Emellin learned how to live on the streets, even at young age. This continued until she was seven, when her father just didn’t return one day. She spent the rest of her youth scavenging the sewers, until one day she found a dying elf clutching a staff and two tomes. The man, without hesitation, shoved the things into her hands and told her to run. She did so, heading out of the sewers. She sold the staff eventually, fetching her enough money to live for the time being. She kept the books however; she poured over them night after night; slowly picking apart their secrets.

It was a few months later that she finally cast some of the cantrips in the book, slowly teaching herself magic. A few years passed before she could start using the basic spells she was learning to her advantage, picking up unattended coins and what not. During this time, a tyrant had taken over the city, and a band of urchins were planning on being a nuisance to this outsider. Emellin ended up helping them out of a jam and joined them. She met Trevor therem, and fell in love with the young man, spending days with him and getting into trouble during the nights. All good things must come to an end, though, as the entire small group was infiltrated and captured.

Emellin ended up in a cell with her friends, and watched one by one as they were dragged off to who knows where. Finally, even Trevor was snatched up by the guards. But they soon made a mistake, leaving the keys dangling within reach of a mage hand. Soon Emellin was free and entered into the next room, only to find her friends all tortured and slain. only Trevor was still breathing. Em froze, and then approached the young man; he whispered hoarsely how much he cared for her, and even Em could tell he would not walk out of there. There was clapping behind her; she turned around, only to see a massively muscular man, bearded and a proud sneer on his face. He was the one responsible. She knew right away that it was The Baron, as he called himself. A flick of her wrist, and a rusty knife she did not recall grabbing flicked into the man’s throat; he clutched it, doing what he could to staunch the flow of blood as Em ran, guards tending their master first before giving chase. It was all the advantage she would need., and soon she was out of the city, and on her way to the only place she could think of… Cormyr.
