Battle Sorcerer Archetype

The battle sorcerer is no weak arcanist, hiding behind the fighters. Instead, she is a capable physical combatant who mixes magical prowess with fighting skill.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The battle sorcerer is proficient in light armor but not shields, she is proficient in all simple weapons and one martial weapon of her choice. If the sorcerer is of a race that treats racial exotic weapons as martial weapons, she may select one of those weapons as her martial weapon. She can cast sorcerer spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. Like any other arcane spellcaster, a battle sorcerer wearing medium armor, heavy armor, or a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component. A multiclass battle sorcerer still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Battle Prowess: The battle sorcerer’s base attack bonus improves to 3/4 of their level, same as a cleric/rogue of the ame level, and their hit dice commensurately increases to d8.

Diminished Spellcasting: A battle sorcerer has fewer daily spell slots than a standard sorcerer. Subtract one spell per day from each spell level (to a minimum of zero spells per day). For example, a 1st-level battle sorcerer may cast four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells per day (plus bonus spells, if any). If spells per day for a spell level is reduced to zero, then the sorcerer can only cast a spell of that level if she has bonus spells per day from a high Charisma.

A battle sorcerer knows fewer spells per spell level than a standard sorcerer. Subtract one spell known from each spell level on the Table Sorcerer Spells Known (to a minimum of one spell per spell level). For example, a 4th-level battle sorcerer knows five 0-level spells, two 1st-level spells, and one 2nd-level spell. When she reaches 5th level, the battle sorcerer learns one additional 1st-level spell, but doesn’t learn an additional 2nd-level spell (since two minus one is one).

Battle Training: Starting at 9th level, a magus counts 1/2 her total sorcerer level as fighter levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats. If she has levels in fighter, these levels stack. This replaces the sorcerer’s 9th level bloodline power. If she prefers, she can gain her 9th level bloodline power at 13th level in lieu of her 13th level power.
